Arlee Catholic Community

The Arlee Jocko Catholic Community consists of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, across from the Arlee High School, and St. John Berchman Catholic Church, located east of Grey Wolf Drive and Agency Road.

The Third Grade Class will be making their First Eucharist on May 13th in Arlee at the 11:15 a.m. Mass.  Staff, parents and students are preparing at this time.

Reconciliation is prior to mass or upon appointment.

Sunday Masses are at 11:15 am at Sacred Heart, and at 5 pm at St. John Berchman. All are invited to attend. Fr. Andrew Maddock, S.J., serves these mission churches along with St. Ignatius Mission Church. He can be reached at 745-2768.  The Arlee area can be reached at the office in Arlee, at 726-3540.  Sister Margaret Hillary, O.P., is the administrator for the Arlee/Jocko area.   Mrs. Nancy Plant is the secretary for the Mission churches.  She can be reached at 745-2768 or 726-3540.

Religious Education is held for K-6 grades at the 11:15 am Mass, and for release time on Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:00 pm during the school year. Religious Education release time is a state mandated law, allowed once a week for all children. Arlee is the only one honoring this state mandate at this time, and we are thankful for it. Wednesday teachers are Mrs. Nadine Espinoza,  Mrs. Anne Stewart, Mrs. Virginia Dumontier, Michelle Brown and LeeAnn Matt.  Sign up your first, second and third graders for their religious education release time which began 1/25/12.  Children must have a release slip in order to attend. Junior and Senior High groups begin with dinner at 5:30 and 6 PM until 7:30 P.M. Junior High teachers are Mary Schick and Anne Stewart. High School teachers are Shelly Fyant, Albert Plant, Rick and Tina Dejarlais and Sister Margaret Hilary.

We sincerely thank all those who make dinners for these students, for their work in putting it together as well as the cost to their families.  High School Youth Group has 25 members who attend regularly. The Junior High Youth Group attended a JHCYC the first of November in Kalispell for one fun filled day, with over 300 students from all over the Diocese. There are 12 JH students who attend Wednesday evenings. Our Annual Bazaar is the first Sunday in May and many enjoy games, crafts, homemade goods, silent auction, and Indian Tacos. The raffle has wonderful prizes of quilts, beef, and many more items. The Arlee/Jocko Catholic Church has a Pastoral Council that meets once a month.

Our Dominican Sisters have Sister Margaret Hillary working in Arlee and Sister Mary Stauder working in St. Ignatius.  They have outreach programs in progress with Bible studies, and catechisis for RCIA in St. Ignatius.  We are also trying to update our parish lists of our community catholics with their correct addresses, phone numbers and household numbers.  This is beneficial to all involved in the parish life at the missions.

St. Ignatius Mission along with Sacred Heart and St. John Berchman are involved with the Living Stones that is being conducted in the Diocese.  Members are to have their forms returned by February 8th.  Living Stones is concerned with the pastoral leadership in the Missoula Deanery (of which we are a part), as well as the Helena Diocese.  For further information contact the office either in Arlee or St. Ignatius.

The Music Ministry is in need of more members to either lead, play an instrument or be a member of the choirs at all three churches.  Anne Stewart is conducting practices, encouraging others to minister with music at Sunday Masses, funerals, and other spiritual events.

St.Ignatius, Sacred Heart Mission and St. John Berchman Mission are now in the midst of the From Age to Age Campaign. This is a five year campaign for the Diocese of Helena to raise $12m for the needs of all our parishes in the Diocese. Our three missions have a goal of $117,900 to reach in June. Right now we have to reach our goal in order to continue with this program. If you are interested in helping, or in learning more about From Age to Age, please contact the parish at 726-3540, or Anne Stewart at 726-3448. We can make a difference in our parish, our religious commitment to our community, and in helping others.
