Hearings set for Boat Rules
HEARINGS SET FOR PROPOSED BOATING RULE CHANGES ON ECHO AND SWAN LAKES
Two FWP Commission public hearings will be held on proposed new boating rules for Echo and Swan Lakes in early March.
Echo Lake: Currently, Echo Lake is limited to a controlled no wake speed as defined in ARM 12.11.101(1). This proposed rule will eliminate the no wake speed in the upper three islands in the southwest corner of section 5, approximately 1/4 mile southeast of the entrance of Blackies Bay and the narrow corridors that serve as the entrances to Blackies Bay and Causeway Bay. A public hearing to take comments on this proposal is scheduled for Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 6 p.m., at the FWP Headquarters on 490 North Meridian Road in Kalispell.
Swan Lake: Currently, Swan Lake is limited to a controlled no wake speed as defined in ARM 12.11.101(1). The proposed rule would extend the no wake zone from the northern outlet of Swan Lake approximately 3/4 of a mile south to the southern tip of the southern- most island or as buoyed. A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 6:00 p.m., at the FWP Headquarters on 490 North Meridian Road in Kalispell.
The detailed notice of public hearing on each of these proposals was published to the FWP website on 1-30-08 and can be found under “Public Notices” on the FWP website ( www.fwp.mt.gov ).
